CEO Update Q1 2024: A challenging but good start to 2024 for all at Kirkstall Precision Engineering

As we wrap up the first quarter of 2024, I’m thrilled to share the journey and achievements of Kirkstall Precision Engineering. It’s been a quarter filled with growth, challenges, exciting developments, and milestones that underscore our commitment to servicing the MedTech industry.

Our team’s relentless effort and dedication have driven us forward, showcasing our strength in innovation and our resolve to excel. This update is a celebration of our collective achievements and a look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.

ISO13485 Audit

2024 started with another successful ISO13485 Audit. Our quality team did a great Job facilitating this over the course of two days. We had a few observations for improvement that we take onboard as we value the auditors feedback to continually drive our business forward.

Made Smarter Award

This quarter has been remarkable for Kirkstall Precision Engineering, marked notably by our triumph at the Made In Yorkshire – Made Smarter Award. This prestigious accolade is a testament to our unwavering commitment to manufacturing excellence, further establishing our leadership in the field of precision engineering. Our success is a reflection of our team’s dedication and innovative approach, driving us forward as pioneers in our industry.

Medical Technology UK

Our participation in the Medical Technology UK exhibition provided us with a fantastic platform to display our latest innovations and foster new partnerships. During the event, I had the honour of engaging in a meaningful dialogue with Colin Martin, the co-founder of Medical Technology UK. Our exchange shed light on the pivotal role such exhibitions play in propelling forward-thinking companies like ours toward further innovation and growth.

These platforms are invaluable for showcasing our expertise and staying connected with the pulse of the medical device manufacturing industry, ensuring we remain at the forefront of technological advancements and industry trends.

Celebrating our team’s hard work

The last two months at Kirkstall Precision Engineering have been a testament to the dedication and hard work of our exceptional team. This period of growth and achievement has been fuelled by a series of new customer engagements, which have not only expanded our market presence but also solidified our reputation in the MedTech arena. As a reward to our people, we will be scheduling Team building events every Quarter, this day is important to recharge and create a stronger team work culture.

Showcasing our expertise

Our project portfolio this quarter has been particularly noteworthy, highlighted by the development of supplying complete instrument solutions to the MedTech sector. While undertaking complex new product development projects for new and existing customers all within a 6–10-week lead-time.

This achievement not only showcases our team’s technical prowess but also our capability to meet the urgent needs of healthcare professionals, further establishing our position as a leader in precision engineering for the medical device sector.

A visit to AW Hainsworth

My recent visit to AW Hainsworth, alongside the Leeds Manufacturing Alliance, was a profound experience. Seeing first-hand the meticulous craftsmanship and the deep-rooted tradition in textile manufacturing was not only inspiring but also offered us valuable insights. This visit has invigorated our commitment at Kirkstall Precision Engineering to uphold the same level of excellence and innovation in our processes, drawing parallels between the art of textiles and precision engineering.

Welcoming Mufeeda Chemban Koyilot

This quarter, we were delighted to welcome Mufeeda Chemban Koyilot, a distinguished graduate with an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Newcastle University. Mufeeda’s deep knowledge in medical devices, regulatory frameworks, and quality administration is a significant boon for us. Her expertise is expected to spearhead advancements in our capabilities, particularly in the medical device sector, enriching our team’s skill set and fortifying our position as industry leaders.

Empowering women in engineering

Celebrating International Women’s Day this March was a highlight, as we paid tribute to the extraordinary women within our ranks at Kirkstall Precision Engineering. Their unparalleled expertise, innovation, and dedication not only drive our success but also make them powerful role models for aspiring engineers. This celebration underscores our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, where women’s contributions are recognized and celebrated, propelling the future of engineering forward.
