Apprentice week wrap-up – The future is bright thanks to apprentices

This week at Kirkstall Precision Engineering has seen us focus on the next generation of employees as we look to bring in more apprentices and continue our strong track record of investing in people, skills and technology.

As well as attending the Leeds Apprenticeship Fair and the Leeds Recruitment Fair, we also announced that we are looking for four new apprentices for several areas of the business. You can find out more about these roles here.

Briefly, the roles we are looking for apprentices for include:

Finishing Technician Apprentice
CNC Turning & EDM Apprentice
Apprentice Production Engineer
CNC Milling & EDM Apprentice

All applicants must be qualified to a minimum GCSE standard with passes in core subjects. More importantly you must have a real passion and interest for engineering. We are looking for candidates with the correct attitude and aptitude for engineering who will demonstrate and promote our values.

All roles will be based at our Kirkstall site.

Appearing on Leeds TV

Adam Thornton and Iqbal Bahia on Leeds Tv

While at the fair we were lucky and proud to be interviewed by Leeds TV. You can watch the interview here. This platform gave us a great opportunity for us to talk about our vision for the business and also our belief in investing in young people and the fantastic opportunity to earn while they learn.

This kind of local coverage is essential when it comes to recognising and raising awareness that businesses like ours are being proactive in  addressing the skills shortages in the engineering and manufacturing sector.

Our search for apprentices also featured in a piece by The Manufacturer, which you can read here. Scroll down to the Feb 10th update to see where we are mentioned. The Manufacturer’s coverage of National apprenticeship week has been excellent and it’s great to see such publications supporting the sector and its drive for excellence.

We have also had a fantastic reaction on social media. If you don’t yet do so, follow us on twitter here and on LinkedIn here for our latest business updates and opinion pieces.
